Past Projects

  • VALU3S - Verification and Validation of Automated Systems’ Safety and Security, EU H2020-ECSEL-2019-2-RIA (2020-2023): this ECSEL JU project aims to evaluate the state-of-the-art V&V methods and tools, and design a multi-domain framework to create a clear structure around the components and elements needed to conduct the V&V process. The main expected benefit of the framework is to reduce the time and cost needed to verify and validate automated systems with respect to safety, cyber-security, and privacy requirements. This is done through the identification and classification of evaluation methods, tools, environments, and concepts for V&V of automated systems with respect to the mentioned requirements. Our contribution is mainly focusing on the security assessment of wireless interfaces (radio link / CAN and WiFi / CAN) included in the test smart Agribot system.

  • DNS, 5G, and LoRaWAN Security Assessment, research contract with a private company: security assessment and tests of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) to detect malicious activities in DNS traffic flows; security assessment of 5G network solutions; security assessment and attack injection in LoRaWAN communication solutions.

  • Data-driven Network Controller and Orchestrator for Real-time Network Management (ANChOR), European Space Agency ESA/ESTEC Contract No.: 4000131447/20/NL/AB: ANChOR aims to design and develop a data-driven Network Controller and Orchestrator for satellite communication networks which manages the resource allocation adopting Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and exploiting Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) concepts.

  • Anomaly Detection for Physical and Cyber Security Information, research contract with a private company: research of developing Machine Learning-based techniques aim to detect anomalies jointly exploiting information from physical and cyber security systems.

  • Cyber security for Critical Infrastructure (CYBIC), research contract with a private company: research activity within a research project aims to create a solution for the automation of the security monitoring of critical infrastructures.
